My name is Valerie!
I AM A SENTIMENTAL PERSON BY NATURE
I save love letters, boarding passes, ticket stubs and anything else that helps me remember the good times. Photography allows me to capture the moment and keep it forever and there is magic in that for me. I have been photographing every genre for over a decade now but I am most passionate about documenting love.
Wedding days are a whirlwind filled with an abundance of organic emotion and I think that is what attracts me to them. There are so many special intimate moments sprinkled throughout the day and my eye is trained to see them and capture them in meaningful ways. I have always been a story teller, a big feeler and a hopeless romantic, so photographing weddings is quite literally living my dream.
I was raised by a single mom. She supported us by playing her harp for weddings so the industry has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. I loved brides coming over to our house and the excitement they had when they picked the song they would walk down the aisle to. Those moments sparked my deep appreciation for weddings and the emotions they hold—something I now strive to capture through my photography.
The Gift of memories
Photos give us the little pieces of our lives that we never want to forget and I am honored to be able to share that with others. My love for photography started in my high school darkroom, I actaully got my first job just so I could afford film and paper. That passion only grew, leading me to study media and communication at the University of Washington where I focused heavily on visual arts and storytelling. Deep down, I have always known that I belonged behind a camera because it is truly where I’m happiest.
One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is that the journey doesn’t end after the big day. I’m also a portrait photographer, which means I get to continue capturing life as it unfolds. Watching my couples start families of their own and photographing their next chapter is something I truly cherish. I’d love to be part of your story and help you hold onto the moments that matter most!
When I am not behind the lens
You can find me tending to my countless house plants, listening to music, hiking gorgeous trails and spending quality time with my husband and my two amazing kiddos. I am constantly searching ticket master for concerts and comedy shows. I also have a serious case of wanderlust because making core memories and filling life with experiences is a top priority for me. I love coffee and a good laugh, but most of all…
